WATER EFFICIENT LANDSCAPE

(areas of impact: water)

Domestic Water is currently the source of irrigation water for most households in California. Up to 50% of the domestic water used on residential properties is used for irrigating landscapes. This is clearly the low hanging fruit with respect to improving water efficiency in the residential sector in the State. Low water use landscapes are mandated in the City and County of Los Angeles for new projects, and property owners can improve upon that requirement by selecting low water use plants, using efficient irrigation delivery systems, and maintaining the system well.
