ENERGY
When we speak of energy, we generally are speaking of conservation, or reduction in energy use. However, with the growth of Photovoltaic technology and inverters to deliver power to AC circuits and back to the grid, we are now able to generate and deliver back substantial amounts of energy from on-site generation. With biodigesters we are also able to generate natural gas (methane), but are not able to deliver it back to the utility. It presents an opportunity to reduce the amount of natural gas that we would otherwise consume.
OUR PLAN
We can reduce the energy we consume through heating and cooling efficiency of the home. This involves physical improvements such as thermal insulation, better windows and doors, high efficiency equipment, pipe insulation, shading, and various ventilation techniques. These measures have been mandated for many years for new construction and incentives have been available for existing homes. Passive and Active solar space heating systems are other measures that can be employed. Solar hot water heating systems are also very effective.
